Highfields Falls

Highfields Falls is located about 20 minutes from Toowoomba. It has seven nature walks great for any bushwalking experience. If you're into bird watching, Highfields Falls is definitely worth a visit. You can enjoy a picturesque stroll around the bushland park and check out the creek crossing and waterfall.

Please refrain from bringing your pets along when you visit the Highfields Falls Bushland Park. Additionally, please note that there are no toilet or water facilities available on-site.

Walking Tracks

Walking Circuit Best for Classification Distances Walking time Description
Yellow Robin Bushwalking Grade 4 - Rough track. May be long and very steep with few directional signs. For experienced bushwalkers. 650 m loop 17 minutes Scenic loop walk with zig-zags, creek crossing, steps, and stepping stones. Provides access to waterfall through Cuckoo-Dove Walk and Bowerbird Walk.
Bowerbird Bushwalking Grade 3 - Formed track, some obstacles, 20 km or less. May have short steep hills and many steps. Some experience recommended. 160 m one way 5 minutes Takes you from Yellow Robin Walking Circuit to base of waterfall. Watch for slippery steps and bring your camera.
Cuckoo-Dove Bushwalking Grade 2 - Formed track. May have gentle hills and some steps. Clearly signposted. No experience required. 20 m one way 1 minute Takes you to the top of the waterfall from Yellow Robin Walking Circuit. Watch for slippery steps.
Lorikeet Bushwalking Grade 3 - Formed track, some obstacles, 20 km or less. May have short steep hills and many steps. Some experience recommended. 585 m loop 10 minutes Relatively easy loop that crosses a creek twice and a grassy paddock near Ballantyne Court. Connected to Rosella and Yellow Robin Walking Circuits.
Rosella Bushwalking Grade 2 - Formed track. May have gentle hills and some steps. Clearly signposted. No experience required. 545 m loop 10 minutes Easy loop that connects James Byrne Road carpark with Lorikeet Walking Circuit. Adjacent to Kingfisher Walking Circuit.
Kingfisher Bushwalking Grade 2 - Formed track. May have gentle hills and some steps. Clearly signposted. No experience required. 900 m loop 15 minutes Longest walk in the park, but an easy stroll that can be accessed through James Byrne Road carpark. Connected to Rosella and Golden Whistler Walking Circuits.
Golden Whistler Bushwalking Grade 2 - Formed track. May have gentle hills and some steps. Clearly signposted. No experience required. 710 m loop 10 minutes Relatively flat loop that can be accessed through Barber Road carpark. Connected to Kingfisher Walking Circuit and has valuable flora and fauna.
  1. Yellow Robin Walking Circuit

  • Best for: Bushwalking
  • Classification: Grade 4 (Rough track. May be long and very steep with few directional signs. For experienced bushwalkers.)
  • Distance: 650 m loop
  • Walking time: 17 minutes
  • Description: A scenic loop walk with some zig-zags, a creek crossing, some steps and stepping stones. Easier to walk clockwise. Allows access to the waterfall through the Cuckoo-Dove Walk and the Bowerbird Walk.
  1. Bowerbird Walk

  • Best for: Bushwalking
  • Classification: Grade 3 (Formed track, some obstacles, 20 km or less. May have short steep hills and many steps. Some experience recommended.)
  • Distance: 160 m one way
  • Walking time: 5 minutes
  • Description: Takes you from the Yellow Robin Walking Circuit down to the base of the waterfall. Slippery when wet.
  1. Cuckoo-Dove Walk

  • Best for: Bushwalking
  • Classification: Grade 2 (Formed track. May have gentle hills and some steps. Clearly signposted. No experience required.)
  • Distance: 20 m one way
  • Walking time: 1 minute
  • Description: Takes you to the top of the waterfall. From the Yellow Robin Walking Circuit, turn east at the intersection with the Cuckoo-Dove and follow the track.
  1. Lorikeet Walking Circuit

  • Best for: Bushwalking
  • Classification: Grade 3 (Formed track, some obstacles, 20 km or less. May have short steep hills and many steps. Some experience recommended.)
  • Distance: 585 m loop
  • Walking time: 10 minutes
  • Description: A relatively easy loop that travels over a creek twice and crosses a grassy paddock.
  1. Rosella Walking Circuit

  • Best for: Bushwalking
  • Classification: Grade 2 (Formed track. May have gentle hills and some steps. Clearly signposted. No experience required.)
  • Distance: 545 m loop
  • Walking time: 10 minutes
  • Description: An easy loop that connects the James Byrne Road carpark with the Lorikeet Walking Circuit.
  1. Kingfisher Walking Circuit

  • Best for: Bushwalking
  • Classification: Grade 2 (Formed track. May have gentle hills and some steps. Clearly signposted. No experience required.)
  • Distance: 900m loop
  • Walking time: 15 minutes
  • Description: The longest walk in this park. An easy stroll that can be accessed through the James Byrne Road carpark.
  1. Golden Whistler Walking Circuit

  • Best for: Bushwalking
  • Classification: Grade 2 (Formed track. May have gentle hills and some steps. Clearly signposted. No experience required.)
  • Distance: 710 m loop
  • Walking time: 10 minutes
  • Description: A relatively flat loop. Accessed through the Barber Road carpark.
